Stop HFCS

Now there is one more reason for me to avoid HFCS (high fructose corn syrup). I don't care how much the commercials say it is safe, it all sounds like marketing bullshit to me. The number problem I have with it is that they say it is fine in moderation like everything else. Moderation. Do you know how many of your foods contain HFCS? Pasta sauce, catsup, cereals, white bread, crackers, cookies, pudding, yogurt, jelly, soda, juice cocktails, peanut butter, candy bars, canned fruits, salad dressings, soups, and on and on and on. It's no longer in moderation when it is in almost everything most of us eat in a typical day. I have cut it out of my diet as much as possible and I will tell you that I feel better. I don't have energy crashes in the afternoon and my food tastes better. And it was so easy to cut a lot of it - we buy organic ketchup, whole wheat breads (sweetened with honey or not at all), organic jelly, all natural peanut butter and only 100% juice drinks. I read labels all the time (and it drives Jeff nuts) and buy fresh fruits over canned. Basically, I try to avoid as many processed foods as I can. And honestly, it doesn't cost much more to make healthier food choices. And the small expense it does cost is worth it in my opinion.
